When an employer cashes out the free parking or a apartment building unbundles the parking, that you get somewhere between a 10 and 30 percent reduction in car travel or car or automobile ownership — typically 20% percent of car traffic is the result of this current practice of providing free parking to employees.

Public libraries have, in many places, become a last refuge for people without other access to basic resources — a place to use a computer, read and write, rest. Addressing the needs of these patrons — who may be experiencing homelessness, for example, or navigating drug abuse problems — requires training for the library staff, not the heavy hand of the law.

Report spotlights unsung mobility experts in WA: People with disabilities (KUOW)

The report’s authors interviewed 125 people with disabilities in Washington State who get around without a car. They concluded, “It’s not an exaggeration to say almost everyone we interviewed expressed a sense that their mobility needs are afterthoughts and that they are substantially left out of the processes that shape transportation systems.”
